The Administrative Office is responsible for strategic planning for the University Libraries. In the Office are staff members responsible for the following areas: Budget, Planning and Assessment, Facilities and Procurement, Marketing and Outreach, Development, Friends of the UT Arlington Library, Special Events, Personnel, and Accounting functions.

The Access Services Department provides circulation, course reserves, and stacks maintenance services for the Central Library. Access Services also provides interlibrary Loan, distance education and remote storage retrieval services.

The Architecture & Fine Arts Library provides access to a core print collection and digital research resources to support art, art history, architecture, film/video studies, graphic design, interior design, landscape design, music, and photography.

Digital Library Services

Digital Library Services coordinates development and maintenance of the Libraries' web presence. DLS also operates the Digital Media Studio, a multimedia and web development and instructional facility . Also, DLS collaborates on digitization projects, helping to bring unique UT Arlington collections online.

Information Literacy

Information Literacy teaches essential library skills for undergraduate students and manages the Libraries' Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program. The department hosts physical tours of the Libraries, offers open seminars, presents course related instruction, and creates interactive online instructional tools. Our GIS Program promotes spatial literacy and geographic analysis through a growing collection of geospatial datasets and collaborations with faculty to integrate GIS projects into their courses and research.

This department catalogs materials and prepares them for placement in the stacks. Additionally, we process all U.S. and Texas government documents. IOP shelves Current Periodicals and binds loose periodicals into hardbacks. We also provide binding services for personal theses and dissertations.

Information Resources (IR) manages the Libraries' general collections. The unit selects and acquires books, periodicals, microformats, media and digital resources. It also reviews and assesses the Libraries' holdings to align them with the current and anticipated future research and teaching emphases of the University. In addition, IR is the point of contact for donors wishing to give materials to the Libraries.

The Information Services staff provides information and research assistance to the UT Arlington community for on-site as well as off-site users. We aggressively identify potential users and assist them in acquiring accurate and comprehensive information to support faculty research and student learning.

The Library Systems department serves three primary purposes. It is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all computer technologies in all of the Libraries' facilities. This includes technologies used by Libraries' users as well as those used by staff members. The LS department also manages the Libraries' integrated library management system, Voyager, which supports the purchase, organization and circulation of library materials, in addition to the Libraries' Online Catalog. Finally, the LS department investigates new technologies which may support the Libraries' service programs, or which may facilitate the work of the staff.

Special Collections

Special Collections helps students, faculty, staff and members of the wider community find information, primarily on the subjects of Texas, the history of cartography, the U.S.-Mexico war of 1946-1848, and the history of Mexico from 1820 to 1910. It collects all formats of materials in those fields including books, archives and manuscript collections, maps, graphics, photographs, newspapers, sheet music, broadsides, pamphlets, audio and video recordings, ephemera, realia and electronic records.
