Promotion to Associate Professor 2012

Prof. Heather Jacobson, Sociology & Anthropology, was invited by the Library to choose an item to add to the Library's collection, purchased with the support of the Friends of the UT Arlington Library on the occasion of her Promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure.

Prof. Jacobson chose First Person Plural (DVD) by produced in collaboration with the Center for Independent Documentary; a co-presentation of the Independent Television Service (ITVS) and the National Asian American Telecommuications Association (NAATA); written, directed and produced by Deann Borshay Li, San Francisco, CA: Center for Asian American Media, 2000.

Prof. Jacobson's remarks on this item:
"First Person Plural, by Deann Borshay Liem, is a beautifully crafted documentary that follows Deann as she explores the meaning of family via her own experiences being adopted from Korea into a white home. First Person Plural informed my own research as a family sociologist (which resulted in my first book, Culture Keeping) and is a DVD I use regularly in my teaching."
