Prof. Mitschke chose Moving to Mars: A Million Miles from Burma (DVD) by producer, Karen Katz; director, Mat Whitecross; Channel 4 Britdoc Foundation presents a Coded Pictures production; executive producers, Maxyne Franklin, Steve Milne, London: Coded Pictures, 2010.
Prof. Mitschke's remarks on this item:
"Moving to Mars is a documentary film that highlights the experiences of two Karen families as they leave a refugee camp in Thailand to resettle in Great Britain. The film depicts the struggles faced by refugee families as they confront unfamiliar languages, cultural norms and expectations that accompany resettlement. I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the Karen people in my research as well as in my family life, and I continue to be inspired by their cheerfulness in the face of adversity and their determination to succeed in their new homes."
