Prof. Amy Tigner, English, was invited by the Library to choose an item to add to the Library's collection on the occasion of their Promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure.
Prof. Tigner chose Reading and Writing Recipe Books, 1550-1800 edited by Michelle DiMeo and Sara Pennell: Manchester University Press, 2013.
Prof. Tigner's remarks on this item:
"Edited by Michelle DiMeo and Sara Pennell, Reading and Writing Recipe Books, 1550-1800 is a collection of essays concerning the culinary, medicinal, scientific, linguistic, religious and material significance of recipes in the period. Published in England in January 2013, this book has just now become available in the United States, and I have chosen it for the library because my own research and teaching interests have recently turned to the literary practice of early modern manuscript recipe books. This research has grown out of the book that I wrote for tenure, which is about gardens and literature in Renaissance England, and I look forward to checking it out for a nice delicious read."
