- Menard
A force of 124 Wichita and 40 Caddo attack Rezin P. Bowie and a party of nine Anglo-American treasure hunters near an abandoned Spanish silver mine, six miles east of present-day Menard, on the San Saba River. Six whites are wounded and one killed. Thirty Indians are reported killed and 40 wounded in the attack.
