While we still don’t have our final report to the IMLS completed, we have made significant progress. Today we are releasing the finalized list of maker competencies with an explanatory preamble and acknowledgements to those who helped in the final revisions. This is one of the major deliverables for the IMLS work, and much of what is in this document will also go into the final report. Note that not all participating faculty are named in this document, only those who provided substantive feedback specifically regarding the beta list of competencies.

The beta list has been officially rescinded. Over the coming weeks we will update the list and re-map the lesson plans to the new list on the official Maker Literacies website. Anyone who is following our work and/or implementing programs based on the competencies list may begin using the finalized version.

In other news, I’m wrapping up the data analysis methodology portion for the final report to the IMLS. I have started a blog series on this topic. Note: the completed analysis will NOT go into the final report, as it was not a requirement for the planning grant, and the data we collected during that phase is essentially non-generalizable test data. What was required was to explore assessment methods and report anything significant in regard to methodology. The first few posts in this series will be just that: explaining the pre/post self-assessment data gathering, validation, and analysis methodology. That information WILL go into the final report. Once that part is completed, I do plan to continue with the blog series by conducting actual data analysis.

These have ben the two major hurdles that have prevented us from finishing the final report to the IMLS. Once I have finished writing about the data methodology, we will be able to finally finish the report. Please bear with me, I greatly appreciate your patience.
