  • The Ruby and Sapphire Rooms seat up to 8 people and the Emerald Room seats up to 10 people.
Room Access:

To gain access to one of the Reserved Group Study rooms, users must check out a key from the appropriate circulation desk. Rooms may be checked out for up to 3 hours and may be renewed if no one else is scheduled immediately after the group requesting a renewal.

Science & Engineering Group Study Rooms may be checked out for up to 4 hours (this will change to 3 hours Dec 1, 2006) and may be renewed 15 minutes before reservation ends, for a maximum of two consecutive checkout periods per group, if no other reservations.

Reservations:

Central Library's Reserved Group Study rooms may be reserved up to two weeks in advance, but only one reservation per group will be accepted per day. The person reserving the room must be the one to check out the room. Failure to claim a room within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time will cause the reservation to be canceled. Reserved Group Study rooms in the Central Library are not reserved for time slots between midnight and 6 a.m. During this time rooms are checked out on a first-come first-serve basis.

See the current schedule (the schedule is currently unavailable) of reservations for Reserved Group Study rooms managed by the Central Circulation Desk.

Science & Engineering Library Group Study Rooms are managed by SEL staff at the Service Desk. Reservations are required and available on a first-come first-served basis. Advanced reservations permitted same day ONLY either in person or via phone! The person reserving the room must be the one to check out the room. Failure to claim a room within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time will cause the reservations to be canceled.

Room Occupancy:

A single occupant who is using a Reserved Group Study room may be asked to leave because these rooms were created to facilitate group work. Persons found using a room without scheduling it may also be asked to leave or directed to check out the room from either the first floor circulation desk for study rooms in the Central Library or the Service Desk in SEL.

Fines:

Failure to turn in the key or relinquish a room at the appointed time will result in an overdue fine. Loss of the room key will result in a replacement fee and potentially an overdue fine. Damage to equipment in the rooms will result in charges to the account of the person who checked out the room.
