Group Study Rooms

Central Library Open Group Study Rooms

The Central Library has open access group study rooms on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors - 309, 316, 317, 318, 409, 519, 520A and 520B. The rooms are available to 2 or more people who wish to use them. The rooms remain unlocked and are not scheduled. Guidelines for the use of these rooms are:

  • The rooms are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • A room has to be occupied by 2 or more people.
  • A single user in a group study room may be asked to vacate the room.

Additional group study rooms are available at both the Central and the Science & Engineering Libraries. Known as Reserved Group Study Rooms, they can be reserved and must be checked out from their respective circulation desks. In Central, the basement has also been designated as a group study area and has open tables at which groups can work together.


SEL Group Study Rooms

Three Group Study Rooms provide an excellent place for students to study with fellow classmates and/or work on assigned projects.

  • Ruby Room - seats up to six people
  • Sapphire Room - seats up to eight people
  • Emerald Room - seats up to ten people (Preferably, four or more users to checkout Emerald Room)

Reservations required - Advanced reservations permitted same day

A valid UT Arlington MavID is needed to check out the room.

SEL Group Study Room Policy

(Reservations Required - Advanced reservations permitted same day only!) SEL staff handle all reservations in person or via phone, no online reservations available

  • Available for UT Arlington Faculty, Staff, and Students' Use Only
  • Rooms to be used by two or more users and occupied at all times
  • Rooms are locked at all times and key must remain in library
  • Ruby & Sapphire Rooms comfortably seat up to eight users
  • Emerald Room comfortably seats up to 10 users
  • Preferably, four or more users to check out Emerald Room
  • Sign up for the rooms and loan the room key at the Service Desk for a four-hour checkout period
  • Markers and erasers may be checked out for a four-hour loan period
  • Person responsible for reserving and checking out key must indicate how many will be using the room for statistical purposes
  • A fine is assessed for late key returns
  • Rooms may be renewed 15 minutes before reservation ends, for a maximum of two consecutive checkout periods per group, if no other reservations
  • Reservation will be cancelled if key is not claimed within 15 minutes of the requested time
  • Please call ahead if arriving late for reservation time
  • Rooms must be empty 30 minutes prior to closing the library
  • Out by 11:30pm (M-Th) - Out by 7:30pm (F & Sa) - Out by 10:30pm (Su)
  • Turn off lights, put plasma screen in "standby" mode, pick up trash and place in trash cans when vacating the rooms
