The update will focus on major changes occurring in this field due to code changes, focus on sustainability, and on-going innovations by product and construction system manufacturers. Additionally, the publisher (Pearson) wants the new edition to be geared toward a digital format to include construction videos and animations embeeded in the publication.

A new, four story, 63,342 square foot, Holiday Inn Express hotel. The new facility utilizes numerous sustainable design and building techniques including an active solar water heating system and an HVAC system designed to provide 100 percent, fresh make-up air to the public spaces for enhanced indoor air quality. The system employees a rooftop, packaged unit with an energy recovery wheel, return air and building exhaust are directed through the wheel transferring its heating or cooling capacity to the incoming stream of fresh, make-up air. The system also uses R-410A refrigerant. A commisioning agent was employed, providing guidence and oversight through the HVAC system design, construction and final delivery of the completed building.
