The power of performance: women's Olympic bobsled team and athletic trainers combine for success

Dr. Cynthia Trowbridge is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training Education Program in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Texas at Arlington. She will discuss the role of certified athletic trainers in the success of the USA Women's Olympic Bobsled team. Her talk will take you on a journey to Park City, Utah, for the 2001 World Cup where the Women's team swept the medals stand. She will also discuss Igls, Austria and Cortina and Sestriere, Italy where the USA Women competed for team placement and world ranking for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Certified athletic trainers are responsible for the prevention, recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Discover how they work as a team with elite athletes to bring out the athletes' best performances.
