UT Arlington Library GIS Workshop Series for Spring 2008 Presenter: Joshua Been, GIS Librarian Who May Attend: UT Arlington Students, Faculty, and Staff, and the general public. Title: To Catch a Thief Time: Thursday, March 2, 3pm - 5pm Location: Central Library, Room B-20 Description: Use state-of-the-art GIS (geographic information systems) to analyze crime patterns, predict potential targets, and try to track down the burglar. These fictitious burglaries all take place in Tarrant County, Texas. This is a hands-on demo with no GIS or criminal justice experience required. Play to Win! Time: Thursday, March 30, 3pm - 5pm Location: Central Library, Room B-20 Description: Learn how to quickly and easily create your own customized web Google Map using the free Google Maps API. This workshop will focus on converting ArcGIS projects to the web using Google Maps. Note: Some ArcGIS experience helpful. Title: Where to Open a New Pizzeria in the Metroplex Time: Thursday, April 13, 3pm - 5pm Location: Central Library, Room B-20 Description: So, where would YOU open a new pizzeria in the DFW metroplex? Use geographic analysis to find the most suitable location. |
