Accessing Electronic Resources

Authorized Users

The Library's electronic resources are for scholarly, research and educational purposes. Access is restricted to authorized users including:

  • currently enrolled UTA students
  • currently employed UTA faculty and staff
  • affiliated researchers
  • guest users

If you are an authorized user as defined above, and you have been denied access to a database or e-journal, please Contact Us.

Copyright

Databases and e-journals contain copyrighted materials of the Producer/Vendors and their licensors which retain sole ownership of these materials. Only fair use, as provided by the United States Copyright Law is permitted. Read more about copyright and the use of electronic resources.

Users and Access

Many of the electronic resources available at UTA Libraries are subscriptions purchased from vendors. These vendors often place additional restrictions on their electronic resources.

Current UT Arlington Students, Faculty, Staff, and Affiliated Researchers

Currently registered students and currently employed faculty, staff, and affiliated researchers at UTA have access to all the electronic resources including, but not limited to:

  • Databases defined as "UTA Use Only" (on and off campus)
  • Password protected databases (on and off campus)
  • Electronic resources requiring download/installation (on and off campus)
  • Electronic resources only available on specific work stations (on campus)
Retired Faculty and Staff

The license agreements with electronic resource vendors prevent us from offering off-campus access of electronic resources to anyone other than currently enrolled UTA students, and currently employed UTA faculty and staff. If you are retired faculty or staff and would like to use electronic resources on-campus, you must sign up as a guest user.

Guest Users

Guest users of the Library can sign up for temporary on-campus access to electronic resources. See Services for Visitors.

  • Databases defined as "UTA Use Only" (on campus)
  • Password protected databases (on campus)
  • Electronic resources requiring software download/installation (on campus)
  • Electronic resources only available on specific work stations (on campus)

Password Protected Resources

Some electronic resources require passwords to gain access. These databases are marked with a "password" icon (**) in the Databases A-to-Z List.

To retrieve passwords for electronic databases, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Get Passwords.
  2. Enter your UTA email address and password.
  3. Find the appropriate electronic resource and its username/password.
  4. Do NOT distribute user names or passwords. It is a violation of the producer-library agreement and may result in disciplinary or legal action.

For more information about your UTA credentials, contact the UTA Help Desk at 817-272-2208 or helpdesk@uta.edu.
