How to Renew UT Arlington Library Materials
We offer a variety of ways for you to renew your UT Arlington library materials. Our goal is to make renewing your materials before their due dates an easy, efficient process.
Additionally, the Library also sends courtesy notices by email to remind you of upcoming due dates.
There will be an overdue fine if you renew materials after their due dates.

For Phone, Fax, or E-Mail renewals, please provide ALL of the following:
- Your name
- Your mailing address
- Your phone number
- Your UT Arlington ID number (your EmplID number)
- The barcode number for each item you want to renew
The barcode number is the 14-digit number beginning with 3 1334, usually found inside the front cover or on the outside front cover of the book.
On campus: Bring your MavExpress ID card or your library card with a picture ID, and bring either your UT Arlington materials or a list of the barcodes for those materials to the circulation desk at any of the three UT Arlington libraries (Architecture & Fine Arts, Central, or Science & Engineering Library).
When your renewal request has been processed, a listing all the materials checked out to your UT Arlington ID number and their current due dates will be sent to you. Or, check your library account within the UT Arlington Library Catalog (login with your NetID).
Some materials cannot be renewed. Typical reasons are:
- You have reached the maximum number of renewals for that item. Faculty are allowed four renewals; Graduate students are allowed three; Undergraduates, UT Arlington staff, and all other categories of library users are allowed two renewals.
- The item has a "Recall" placed on it, meaning that another library user needs it and has asked us to set it aside for them to use when your current loan period expires. If you are UT Arlington faculty, items checked out to you can be recalled by another library user after you have had the item for one month.
- The item belongs to one of the Libraries' high-demand categories. Materials that are Bound or Current Periodicals, that are from the Reading Resources Room or the Reserve Desk, or checked out manually from the Reference Desk are checked out for short periods of time, cannot be renewed, and result in a higher overdue fine if returned after their due date.
- We received incomplete information (see the information required for Phone, Fax, and E-mail renewals given above), or your voicemail renewal message was difficult to understand.
