Children in the Libraries Policy

The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries provides a welcoming physical environment to promote life-long learning and to assure an atmosphere conducive to research. Children are welcome to use the facilities; however, the following guidelines must be observed:

  • A child not yet in high school must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. Unaccompanied children may be asked to leave, or library staff may contact the UT Arlington police to report their non-supervised status. Exceptions will be made for children participating in school or university sponsored programs and activities.
  • A child may get a UT Arlington Library card to check out books, provided he/she submits a Parental Consent Form. See the Youth Access Policy and consent form
  • A child may have a temporary guest account to use the Libraries' computers provided he/she submits a Parental Consent Form AND a photo ID. The guest account is obtained from the UT Arlington Help Desk on the first floor of the Central Library or in either branch library
