PAYMENT METHODS

  • Pay-As-You-Go Printing

To pay for printing services, users must load money onto their Mav Express card at the Mav Express Website or at the Mav Money vending machine on the first floor of Central Library (near the Help Desk). The Mav Money vending machine accepts $1.00, $5.00, and $10.00 bills.

  • Print Card

Visitors without a Mav Express card can buy a Print Card from the Print Card vending machine located on the first floor of Central Library (near the Help Desk). The Print Card costs $1.00 and will have a $0.00 balance. Clients can add as much money as they desire in increments of $1.00, $5.00, $10.00 or $20.00. The kiosk only accepts paper currency and gives no change.

  • Refunds

If the printer malfunctions after you pay for your print job, you may be able to request a refund. Download the refund request form or pick up refund request forms from the Help Desk on the first floor.

PRINTING PROCESS

  1. Print your work as you normally would. A pop up window will appear on your screen confirming the cost of your job and allowing you to cancel if necessary.
  2. In the pop up window, enter the "Owner name" and "Job name". This information will help you identify your print job and distinguish it from work being printed by other users.
  3. Go to the designated Print Release Workstation.
  4. Enter your NetID.
  5. Swipe your Mav Express Card.
  6. Select your print job from the list (based on the "Owner name" and "Job name" you created in step #2).
  7. Your job will begin printing. The first page will be a cover sheet listing your Owner name, Job name, how many pages you printed, how much it cost, how much money you have remaining on your Card, and other details.

NOTE: It may take a while for your job to print if several other jobs were released before yours or if your job is a large file with lots of color graphics.

3D PRINTING

The basic steps for creating a 3D-printed object at the UTA FabLab are:

  1. Design or download a three-dimensional object.
  2. Create an.STL file for the object.
  3. Check the .STL file for errors.
  4. Come to the FabLab at the Central Library to print your object. Staff will be there to assist you with sending your job to the printer.
  5. Verify the amount you will be charged (via MavMoney) for your print job with FabLab staff.
  6. At time of purchase, a receipt and expected completion/pick-up date will be issued.

If you need help with any of these steps, please contact fablab@uta.edu or come in to the FabLab.

ALTERNATIVES TO PRINTING

All of the Library and OIT public PCs have USB ports that support flash drives (a.k.a. pin or thumb drives). As an alternative to printing, students can save files to their own flash drive for future reference.
