Focus On Faculty
Wednesday, February 2, 2005 Jeanne M. Gerlach, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for K-16 Initiatives and Dean, The last time a UT Arlington school became a college, Richard Nixon was in the White House, MASH was a new television program, and the University was conferring its first doctoral degrees. (UT Arlington MAGAZINE, winter 04). On August 6, 2003, the COLLEGE OF EDUCATION became the fifth college at UT Arlington when the Coordinating Board granted college status to the School of Education. I will give a brief history of the College of Education from the establishment of "education" as a program in 1963, describe how the college serves the community at large and the programs of excellence within the university, and conclude by sharing the college's future plans for helping all learners exercise the right to learn.
