Focus On Faculty
A Survey of Creative Work, from Metal to Glass Wednesday, February 22, 2006 David Keens, Associate Professor Professor David Keens, MFA University of Washington, has taught at UT Arlington since 1974, and is responsible for building the art metals and the glass programs. His awards include a full National Endowment for the Arts Craftsman Fellowship and the 1979 UT Arlington University Outstanding Creative Activity/Research Award. Professor Keens will discuss his body of work, which began with metal work and only later shifted into glass art. His work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries throughout the United States, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., Minnesota, Phoenix, and Dallas Museums of Art, the Contemporary Crafts Museum in New York City, and many others. Keens has exhibited his work internationally throughout Europe, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Finland, Norway, Japan, Mexico, and the Philippines and is in the permanent collection of several international museums.
