Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) is an Internet-based data research service from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Wharton Research Data Services, or WRDS, is a comprehensive web-based data management system that allows faculty and students to easily retrieve information from a wide variety of financial, economic, and marketing data sources. Because the WRDS service is internet-based, you can access Wharton Research Data Services from anywhere in the world. UT Arlington has access to these databases through WRDS:
Accessing WRDS Without a PasswordAll UT Arlington students, faculty and staff can use WRDS via the web (from off campus, log in with your UT Arlington NetID). No permanent disk storage space is available when connecting without an account. Eligibility for Access to WRDS With an Account and PasswordCurrent faculty, staff, and students at UT Arlington are eligible for web access through individual accounts as defined below. Users must have a UT Arlington NetID and active email address. Alumni members of the community, research colleagues outside the university and others who are not actively employed or registered with the university do not qualify. Types of AccountsFacultyFaculty accounts are available to all standing faculty of member institutions. Standard accounts allow unlimited access via web, SSH, and/or FTP, and include 25 MB of permanent disk storage. Faculty will have their own password access; this password is to remain confidential and is not to be shared with any other individual. Administrative and StaffAdministrative accounts can only be requested by support personnel (i.e. the WRDS Representative) of member institutions. Administrative accounts allow unlimited access via web, SSH, and/or FTP, and include 25 MB of permanent disk storage. Administrators and staff will have their own password access; this password is to remain confidential and is not to be shared with any other individual. Ph.D. studentPh.D. accounts are available to all current Ph.D. candidates of member institutions. Ph.D. students who also teach classes should request this type of account rather than a faculty account. Standard accounts allow unlimited access via web, SSH, and/or FTP, and include 25 MB of permanent disk storage. Doctoral students will have their own password access; this password is to remain confidential and is not to be shared with any other individual. VisitorVisitor accounts are available to visiting faculty (non-permanent or part time position). These accounts are subject to additional review and are established with an initial one year expiration date. Standard accounts allow unlimited access via web, SSH, and/or FTP, and include 25 MB of permanent disk storage. Faculty will have their own password access; this password is to remain confidential and is not to be shared with any other individual. Research AssistantResearch accounts are available to graduate and undergraduate students performing research for a faculty member. Research Accounts allow access via web, SSH, and/or FTP, and include 25 MB of permanent disk storage. Research assistants will have their own password access; this password is to remain confidential and is not to be shared with any other individual. Students must supply the name and email address of the supervising faculty member. ClassClass accounts may be requested by standing faculty of member institutions and are used to access the WRDS web interface. These accounts are primarily for student usage that is associated with a specific class and all students in the class share the same password. These accounts do NOT include disk storage and they expire at the end of the semester. This password is not to be shared with any other individual. Applying for An Account
