During Open Education Week, UTA CARES will offer a number of events in support of UTA educators interested in exploring all that open education has to offer.

Open Office Hours

Stop by Central Library B20 with your syllabus for personalized assistance locating open educational resources (OER) and other free materials to replace commercial textbooks and bundles.

  • Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 2 – 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 8, 2018: 4 – 6 p.m.

Teaching with Wiki Education

The Libraries will host a presentation and Q&A with Samantha Weald, Outreach Manager for Wiki Education, to discuss engaged teaching and learning with Wikipedia. Lunch will be provided, and space is limited. RSVP by Tuesday, March 6. This workshop is open to UTA instructors of record for credit-bearing courses.

UTA CARES Grant Program

The Libraries will continue accepting applications for UTA CARES grants. Funding of up to $10,000 per project is available for OER adoption and other open initiatives. Contact Michelle Reed for additional information.

National Open Education Initiatives

Join Michelle Reed, Open Education Librarian at UTA Libraries, and other OER leaders from across North America for an online discussion of OER programs and initiatives that span multiple institutions. Michelle will provide updates on how Texas institutions have responded to last year’s OER state legislation. Registration is free but required.
