Geographic information systems (GIS) let us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret spatial (location-based) and non-spatial (tabular) data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. GIS has a variety of applications in a number of fields, including business, public health, transportation, geography, urban planning, architecture, geology, and water and soil management/engineering. UTA Libraries provides technologies and support for spatial data, mapping, and GIS use in your research and classes.
