Father's Day

"Uncle Frank" Neal, a Parker County pioneer, has dropped off to sleep in his rocking chair while reading a favorite magazine. This idyllic scene contains wonderful detail. Note the ripples in the wall covering, the crumpled paper scattered on the floor, the papers strewn atop the table, and the dust on "Uncle Frank's" shoes. Special Collections is noted for its large photography collections such as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram archive, and the work of commercial photographers W. D. Smith and Squire Haskins. But this is a charming example of a large body of photographic materials nestled within collections of personal and family papers.
