Services for Alumni & Visitors
Not a currently enrolled UT Arlington student or currently employed UT Arlington faculty or staff? No problem! The UT Arlington Library are open to all visitors, who may use the facilities free of charge.
What's Available
- Remote access to the UT Arlington Library Catalog.
- On-site access to books in our collection of over one million volumes.
- Borrowing privileges with a "Guest Borrower Card" or other Secondary Borrower Card. While there is no charge for some types of Secondary Borrower Cards there is a $40 charge for a Guest Borrower Card. Find out more about getting a library card. All requests for Library Cards are processed at the Central Library Circulation Desk.
- On-site access to to print and electronic magazines, newspapers, and journals.
- Staff assistance in using the Libraries' resources.
- Use of Special Collections.
Certain services and resources are not available to visitors. Here are a few things you need to know:
- Some electronic databases are available only to current UT Arlington students, faculty, and staff. The Reference Desk staff can let you know which electronic resources you'll be able to use.
- Services that are NOT available include, but are not limited to, Interlibrary Loan, the Digital Media Classroom, GIS Computing Facility, and the English Department Writing Center.
Library Computer Access
All visitors wishing to use the computers to access library resources or the Internet must register for a temporary computer account. Accounts are issued immediately and remain valid until midnight on the day issued. To get a temporary computer account:
- Go to the UT Arlington Helpdesk in the Central Library or the Information Desk in the Science & Engineering Library or Architecture & Fine Arts Library.
- Present a photo ID -- driver's license, work ID, school ID, etc.
- Visitors under the age of 18 need to submit a completed Parental Consent Form. Only one form is needed for each academic year (September-August).
Online databases and publications contain information protected by copyright. Visitors are expected to adhere to our Database Copyright and Use Statement.
A guest computer account is a privilege granted to visitors, and the Libraries reserve the right to suspend or amend this privilege if a user does not follow the guidelines set forth in the Computer Use Policy.
Directions and Parking
- Visitors may make parking arrangements by contacting the Parking Office at (817) 272-3907. Their hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays.
- The Maverick Parking Garage is located to the east of Central Library. The garage charges a per-hour fee. Phone: (817) 272-2393.
