Description -   Prevost spent a week traveling from Mt. Vernon Arsenal to Galveston, Texas via New Orleans. Traveling on the steamer New York, he was delayed for twenty hours by heavy storms. He reports on the rumors that the U.S. consul at Matamoras has been incarcerated and that a Mexican force is preparing to attack Taylor’s Army of Occupation.
