In April, UTA Libraries will host a game-show-style pitch contest called POW! (Pitch of the Week!).

We seek undergraduate students from all subject disciplines to compete. Every contestant will get a $10 gift card, and winners of the final round will upgrade to a $50 gift card. Gift card options include Amazon.com, MakerShed, Starbucks, Einstein Bros Bagels, and UTA printing funds.

No special knowledge or skills are required. Contestants will be placed in teams and given a random prompt. Teams will have 20 minutes to brainstorm an idea for an invention, a product, a service, a business plan or solution to a problem. Teams then have five minutes to pitch their idea to the judges.

There will be four rounds total (three preliminary and one final) occurring each Wednesday in April between noon-1:00 in the FabLab (1st floor of Central Library).

Full details, contest rules and the registration form can be found at http://libguides.uta.edu/pow.

We are also seeking judges for the contest. UTA faculty and staff, Arlington business and community leaders, and Peer Academic Advisors (PALs) are encouraged to volunteer to serve as judges.

Please share this announcement far and wide and help promote the events through whatever channels you normally use to promote your own events. We only have a few weeks left, so anything you can do to help spread the word would be greatly appreciated. Anyone who is interested in volunteering to be a judge should contact me directly at martin.wallace@uta.edu.
