So, first the bad news: we were not able to complete our final report to the IMLS by the September 28 deadline. Fortunately, we were approved an extension for another purpose, and because of that extension, we still have time to work on a really great final report. We received a lot of actionable, substantive feedback from our pilot program participants, and thanks to this extra time, we’ll be able to provide each their due in the final report. I believe all stakeholders will benefit from patience. I’ll continue to post updates about this here on the blog.

If anyone is interested in reading our interim report, I have inquired about posting it publicly on our website and am awaiting a response. I couldn't find an answer on their website. When I get the answer, I’ll make some kind of announcement here, either to share the report, or just to let you know that I’m not able to post it publicly. I assume it’s a public record, but I’ve made bad assumptions before you can download it here. Most importantly, the interim report includes our revised list of maker-based competencies in Appendix 3, which we plan to begin using in spring 2019. You'll find other interesting details about program outcomes here as well.

So, now on to the GREAT news…. [drumroll]… Our new program website is live! Head on over to https://library.uta.edu/makerliteracies/ to take a look!

On our site, you’ll find a directory of lesson plans that have been piloted through our Maker Literacies program. The curricula are offered under Creative Commons Licensing (varied by course instructor) and are arranged by subject discipline and competency. You’ll find the early draft list of maker-based competencies, and soon we’ll unveil add the revised competencies that resulted from our IMLS-funded pilot program in 2017-2018 (in the mean time you can find them in Appendix 3 of the interim report). This is also where we’ll publish our final report and research data. Last but not least, this blog will feed right through the site homepage, for your convenience.

The site is in beta and not all content has been finalized. Over the next few weeks we’ll be adding more content and tweaking the design. We welcome you to email makerliteracites@uta.edu and let us know your thoughts about the new website!
