Description: Narcia Denise McCurtain, University of Texas at Arlington freshman, 18 received a crown and red roses as the new Miss Arlington after winning the pageant held in the Arlington Community Center. She is Choctaw and Cherokee and her goal is to becoming the first Native American to compete in a Miss Texas Pageant, and ultimately become Miss Texas. She was selected as the 1976 Dallas-Fort Worth Inter-Tribal Princess. McCurtain was one of the 12 contestants and will receive a $500 scholarship. She graduated of Eastern Hills High School. She is meeting with the media. Published in Fort Worth Star Telegram morning edition January 15, 1979.
