Electronic Reserves provide online 24 hour access to your course readings. These readings are made available electronically at the request of your instructor. E-reserves access is restricted to students enrolled in a specific course.
Your NetID and password will give you access to E-Reserves for a course in which you are enrolled. E-reserves access is granted based upon enrollment in the course associated with the reading you are trying to access.
You can find all of the reserve readings for your classes in the UT Arlington Library Catalog Look at the Course Reserves tab and search using your instructor's name, last name first.
There are several possibilities. Please check the following:
- If the reading is there, but there isn’t an “E-Items” link, your instructor may have asked us to place it on “On-site” reserves only (i.e. not online)
- E-Reserves materials are listed by the title of the article or book chapter along with the article/book author information. Check your assignment or course syllabus to see if your instructor has named the reading in a different manner.
- It takes us 5 to 7 workdays to process readings for E-Reserves. Try checking the course listing a little later, or contact us for the status of your course readings.
- You may need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader downloaded on your PC; this software will enable your web browser to open and view the PDF files; all E-Reserves files are in PDF format.

Contact the Helpdesk at ext. 22208, they will verify that your NetID and password are correct.
Your BlackBoard user name and password are the same NetID and password that you use to access e-Reserves, so yes you can. However, Library e-reserves are only available through the Library catalog. BlackBoard is a course management system that is not tied to the Library catalog e-reserves.
Readings and other high demand course materials that your instructor has selected, to supplement the lectures and textbook for the class. Materials placed On-Site are checked out for short periods of time in order to make them available to as many students as possible.
Ask for your On-Site reserve materials (physical copies) at the Circulation Desk at Central Library or the Service Desk at either the Architecture & Fine Arts Library or the Science & Engineering Library.
No. Reserve materials are in high demand and therefore cannot be renewed.
Most reserve materials must remain in the library. If there is an exception to this, the reserve item will be labeled accordingly.
It depends on the time limit set by the professor who placed the item on reserve. Typical time limits are: 2 hours, 3 hours, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days.

The library does not purchase textbooks. The professor may put a personal copy of the textbook on reserve.
No. Reserve items are in high demand, therefore, they cannot be “Recalled”. Onsite reserves are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis only.
