Gideon Graham (pictured) traveled to take clothes to a son stationed nearby in the Confederate Army. He left his thirteen-year-old son, Samuel, at home to help his mother. Unidentified Indians take Samuel into captivity within two miles of his home near Sugar Loaf Mountain, twelve miles southeast of Gatesville. He is later killed.
