Band, parade mark Cooper Street's opening, article in The Shorthorn, November 14, 1990, pages 1-2
Description:

This is a newspaper article from The Shorthorn about the Cooper Street's opening parade. The event was held to celebrate work to depress Cooper Street below grade and to construct overhead walkways above the street.  The event included car parades, jazz music, car competitions and more. There is also mention about the first set of cars that will cruise on Cooper Street to represent the different name changes that the University of Texas at Arlington (U. T. A.) has had. Speeches were given by Arlington Mayor Richard Greene, U. T. A. president Wendell Nedderman and Student Congress president Brian Chase.

The construction allows traffic to flow freely on Cooper Street while at the same time providing safe and accessible methods of crossing the street which bisects the campus.
