Description:
Armed Mexicans riot and take over the town of San Elizario, sixteen miles south of El Paso, to protest Anglo-American control of salt deposits near Guadalupe Peak. Two whites, Charles Ellis, C. E. Mortimer, are killed in the rioting; three others, Charles Howard, John E. McBride, and John G. Atkinson, are subsequently executed when the mob takes control of the town.
