Title: Colonel O. T. Forman
Description: Colonel O. T. Forman, a regular Army officer, who has spent Christmases all over the world, arrived in Fort Worth from Germany to spend his first Texas Christmas with his family, Mrs. Forman and their three children, Tom Jr., Jackie, and Robert. Two new decorations, the Legion of Merit and the French Croix de Guerre, have been added to the colonel's chest since he was home 18 months ago. Both were awarded for his part in the defense of Antwerp as commander of the 45th Antiaircraft Group. For five months, night and day, the unit fought Nazi buzz bombs. Out of about 5,000 aimed at the city, which is the third largest port in the world, Forman reported that only 211 hit. The mayor of Antwerp also pinned a medal on the colonel and behalf of the citizens of the town. Forman spent last Christmas, he recalled, in and out of fox-holes in a village called Putte, near Antwerp. Next year the family will probably have their Christmas tree in Germany, since Forman is stationed in Augsburg with the Army of Occupation. Forman, a 1924 graduate of West Point, will return to Germany at the end of this 45-day leave. In this picture, he is wearing his military uniform and standing against the wall. There is a picture frame on the wall behind him. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, December 23, 1945.
