A native of Boyd, Wise County, Mrs. Herndon grew up and attended school in Greenville and also attended Texas Christian University (TCU). She has a son, Tommy, her husband, Henry T. Herndon and her mother, Mrs. Mary D. Portwood living at 4005 Belford. Since the war began, she has been an active member of the Child Welfare Council and the Fort Worth War Housing committee.
