Title: Private First Class R. L. Green
Description: Private First Class (Pfc.) R. L. Green was serving with the Army Air Force overseas in Germany when he was wounded. He suffered shrapnel and bullet wounds to his left leg, which was subsequently amputated. Private Green is currently a patient at McCloskey General Hospital. He holds the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He is spending a three-day pass with sister, Mrs. Coleta Cayce. Two of his brothers are also in the military service- Army Corporal (Corp.) Archie D. Green and Army Sergeant (Sgt.) Harlen G. Green. Private (Pfc.) Green is shown seated in a dining hall, smoking a cigarette. The table is covered with dishes. He is wearing uniform, a button-up shirt and a jacket. He is 23-year old and a former student of North Side High School. His wife and 5-year old son, Bobby, live in Dallas. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition January 4, 1945.
