Title: Private First Class Eugene C. Hernandez
Description: Private First Class Eugene C. Hernandez is a decorated soldier in United States Army. The Poteet, Texas native won several awards for gallantry in action with the 34th Division in northern Italy. He holds the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Distinguished Unit Badge. Private Hernandez is currently recovering from injuries at Bushnell General Hospital in Brigham City, Utah. He was wounded on February 10, 1944. In December 1944 he lost his left leg below the knee as a result of the wound. He is shown at the right in his official military photograph.
