Title: Lieutenant Colonel John W. Floore, Squadron Commander at a B-24 base.
Description: Portrait in uniform of Lieutenant Colonel John W. Floore, squadron commander at a B-24 base of the 8th Air Force in England who was reported missing in action in January, is back home in Fort Worth. His wife, the former Miss Louise Rhea received the first word that he had returned to his group in the middle of March. Floore has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and the presidential unit citation. He wears three battle stars for the campaigns in Normandy, France, and Germany. As a command pilot, he completed nine missions. He was promoted to his present rank in January. Prior to entering service in July 1940, he worked with the Fort Worth Housing Architects. He is a 1933 graduate of Paschal High School and a 1937 graduate of Texas A&M. He served in the field artillery for a year and a half and with the Army engineers for a year before transferring to the United States Army Air Forces. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, April 6, 1945.
