They will square off against the Jefferson Mustangs (San Antonio, Texas) on December 28, 1946 in Austin, Texas. One of the bench players for the Bronchos is Jim Patterson (28). He will take the field when Byron Townsend, star back, needs a breather. Patterson is shown carrying the ball during practice. He is dressed in a football uniform. The Odessa Bronchos went on to beat the Mustangs, winning the 1946 State Championship 21-14.
