Description: Image shows a bust shot of James French, Navy medic in dress uniform. James Arthur French Jr. attached to the 1st Marine division in Korea. He won a Silver Star for extreme bravery and a Purple Heart for a leg injury. He is visiting his parents at 1612 Lagonda. In Korea he used frozen enemy bodies as a barricade. His company was reduced from 250 to 50 in a week. He had to amputate the legs of a comrade to save his life. After arriving on the Korean front the Chinese Communists arrived. He was then hit in the thigh with a slug. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition May 2, 1951.
