Description: Reaction was varied in Fort Worth schools as second graders lined up for Salk vaccine inoculations in a nationwide experiment to find a successful polio preventive. Here it is shown Tommy Booth, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Booth of 602 W. Belknap, was the first person to get a shot from Dr. C. M. Whorton at Peter Smith School. Published in Fort Worth Star Telegram evening edition May 11, 1954. The women behind the boy are unidentified.
