Searching for stolen horses, a company of two dozen settlers led by Major William Oldham attacks and burns a Kichai (Wichita) village on Boggy Creek, a tributary of the Trinity River, five miles south of present-day Centerville. Two Kichai Indians are killed. Benjamin Castleman is killed by a sentinel later that night.
