Looking for stray horses, four men--Columbus Andrews, David Faulkenberry, his son Evan Faulkenberry, and Abram Anglin--are attacked by Indians (possibly Caddos and Kickapoos) on the west bank of the Trinity River, one mile west of present-day Palestine. Three are killed; the fourth, Abram Anglin, is wounded but escapes.
