Description:
Sanaco, a Comanche chief, and fifteen to twenty other Comanches arrive at Fort Chadbourne. U.S. troops, suspecting them guilty of recent depredations and killings in the area, attempt to detain them all as prisoners. The Comanches resist, resulting in a skirmish that leaves ten to twelve Indians dead and most of the rest wounded. Sanaco escapes with some of his wounded tribesmen.
