This study goes over the needs of the elderly population after retirement and highlights the current conditions and what previous research has shown. There is a list of housing options and related services for elderly people with different levels of functionality. There is a section that discusses about Arlington’s elderly population from 1980 Census and facilities and services provided for them including costs. It also contains a comparison between institutionalized living and independent living.The roles of governmental and non-governmental institutions in providing housing and related services is also mentioned. The study is rounded up with a summary of recommendation for the Arlington Housing Authority based on the results and statistical analysis.
